Last January 24, MediLink resumed its employee engagement activity with a bloodletting drive in partnership with the Philippine Red Cross (PRC). Sister companies EITI and ONET also participated in the initiative.
Blood donors in action
Although this is the first time that MediLink partnered with the PRC for a bloodletting drive, the minimum number of participants were met a week after the sign-ups were opened. There were a total 39 pre-registered volunteers collectively from MediLink, EITI, and ONET who donated that day. However, with the increasing demand for blood donors, PRC also welcomed 25 walk-in volunteers. In summary, there were a total of 64 blood donors that day.
Volunteers get assessed prior to being deemed qualified for the blood donation
PRC was more than accommodating to assist MediLink in communicating the benefits of donating blood such as saving someone’s life, lowering of excess iron in the blood, replenishment of blood, and a free medical exam prior to the blood donation.
When asked why the volunteers signed up for the activity, the majority of the responses emulated the volunteers’ desire to help. Each of the blood donors went home that day with an official Blood Donation Card which would keep track of the donor’s blood donation record. Each Blood Donation card has a unique color that represents that donor’s blood group.
